Welcome to Transition Caswell Hill
Transition Caswell is a volunteer association dedicated to helping and inspiring the residents of our neighbourhood to build a vibrant, productive and sustainable community. What does this mean? Well, we like renovating our older homes so they use less energy and save us money. We like gardening because it makes sense to eat good, healthy local food that didn’t have to come on a truck from California. We like bike trails and walking so we are no longer at the mercy of rising fuel costs for our cars.
There are two other realities that motivate us.
Climate Change
We believe that our climate is changing because of the warming caused by increased green house gas emissions. Every community needs to reduce the amount of oil, coal and natural gas they use in order to limit the warming of the planet.
Peak Oil
We believe that the world production of oil will soon reach its maximum point and will enter a terminal decline. This will create several challenges for our community that we should prepare for.
All around the world there are other “Transition” groups springing up with an aim to bring their neighbours together to imagine what there community would look like if it were sustainable and resilient. If you are interested in becoming a member of Transition Caswell sign up here. We will have another mailing list and blog dedicated to providing helpful tips and plans that you can use to save money and become more sustainable.
A great way to find out more about what are about is the Transition Movie.
